Epic Pictures sets Thale sequel
US-based Epic Pictures is partnering with Yesbox Productions to finance and produce an English-language sequel to our thriller Thale! The sequel will again be written and directed by Thale‘s Aleksander Nordaas. Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson are producing alongside Bendik.
“Ever since we screened THALE in Toronto and released it in the US, there’s been a continuous stream of inquiries from fans, eager to know if there will ever be a sequel – and now, teaming up with Epic Pictures Group, we’re finally able to announce that yes, there will be! In English for an international audience. And let’s just say that this time, Thale will be facing some very different kind of animals,” says Nordaas.
The original film played at both Toronto and SXSW last year and became an international hit, having been released in almost 50 countries. Epic will take the project to the upcoming Marché du Cannes, with additional projects on their slate to be announced in the coming days.
Epic’s Patrick Ewald says the budget will be upped for the sequel “so that Aleksander and Bendik’s vision can be accomplished on a grand scale.”
